Reading The Classics For Six Months During Covid-19

Since lockdown began I took up the task of reading books I had neglected. I also chose to read books I had enjoyed in the past, and finally got around to a number of classical texts by Epictetus, Plato, Socrates, Thucydides, Aurelius and Pericles. A number of these works were new to me and ended spending the last six months reading through countless classical texts. I have been reminded the importance of such for the entire existence of western civilization, democracy and for the future of the Western Hemisphere.

I will post more and more on the subject of antiquity and classical works but for the time being have a look and a listen to the podcast below.

Pericles Podcast Episode: BBC In Our Time. Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss the life and influence of the most powerful statesman in the new democracy of Athens, flourishing between the Persian and Peloponnesian wars.
